Social Enterprise

Niamh Goggin has been managing and advising social enterprises since 1991.  Her first management job was with Lisburn Enterprise Organisation Ltd, a newly established enterprise agency in Northern Ireland.  Her responsibilities included the establishment, management and development of the enterprise centre, local economic development initiatives, business training, planning and consultancy services and achieving BS5750 (ISO 9001) certification. 

In 1997, Niamh was responsible for a groundbreaking report on the role of the social economy in tackling exclusion and deprivation in North Belfast. 

In 2005/06, she completed an innovative study of social enterprises as “Third Sector in Transition” organisations in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, on behalf of the Social Economy Agency.   She managed the evaluation of the School for Social Entrepreneurs in Ireland, on behalf of Colin Stutt Consulting,  and worked with Colin Stutt and Brendan Murtagh on the the evaluation of Social Economy Belfast, on behalf of the Belfast Local Strategy Partnership.

She was a founding Director of the Social Economy Network in Northern Ireland, a member of the government/sector Social Economy Forum and chaired the Forum Committee on Social Finance. 

She is currently a Director of Development Trusts Northern Ireland.
